TWELVE DARING fundraisers from a kind-hearted Greenfield company are facing the fire in aid of Mahdlo Youth Zone.
The volunteers from Team Spirit are taking on a charity firewalk on Thursday, February 19 to raise funds for the centre, which offers activities for 8-18 year olds.
CEO Ian Taylor will lead the brave team – Laura, Katie, Sarah, Charlotte, Tom, Lucy, Jemma, Dave, Graeme, Paige, Rick – as they put their best feet forward to cross 20 feet of hot ashes.
Tom, Marketing Manager from Team Spirit who design, create and run event experiences, explained: “Mahdlo is one of our nominated charities for the year and we look to support them in any way we can.
“We are all really excited about the firewalk and are looking forward to it but there are a few nerves around the office.
“It is new to us all but I am sure it will be alright on the night!”
The team has already raised around £700 for Mahdlo through donations on their sponsorship page from family, friends and clients – smashing their £500 target.
They will be joined in the challenge by members of Team Mahdlo as well as supportive fundraisers from across the borough.
The firewalk is part of Mahdlo’s ‘Love Oldham, Love Mahdlo’ Family Event running from 6.30pm to 9pm so there will be lots of activities for all the family taking place at Youth Zone.
Funds raised will go towards running the Youth Zone, which is open seven days a week, 52 weeks a year to offer activities and opportunities to young people.
