Flooding hits HOPE Menswear in Uppermill

AN Uppermill business has been severely impacted by the New Year’s Day flooding.

HOPE Menswear, which recently relocated to the Old Library Gardens on the High Street just nine weeks ago, faced heartbreaking damage as floodwaters inundated their new store.

Store Manager Oliver Hope shared the news on social media:

Flooding in the menswear department of the new store on Uppermill High Street

“Not the start to 2025 we had hoped for. At 3am, we discovered the menswear section of our lovely new store had flooded, with water reaching waist height at its worst. This is incredibly difficult to see, especially after putting so much love and care into the space and receiving such wonderful feedback in these early weeks.”

The store will remain closed on Thursday, January 2nd, with updates on the ladies’ section reopening later this week shared via social media.

Despite this setback, Oliver remains determined:

“We promise the menswear section will be back ASAP—bigger, better, stronger, and definitely drier!”
