A PUB on the border with Saddleworth is being transformed into a ‘party house’, complete with indoor football pitch.

The Carriage House, which lies on the A62 just over the top of the hills in Marsden, West Yorkshire, has been bought by Holmfirth-based Celebration Cottages.

Re-named Horizon House, it will be a party venue for hen and stag dos as well as families.

Renovation work which will be complete in April will include the creation of a mini indoor five-a-side football pitch, a disco room and bar, a karaoke stage and a ‘huge swim spa’ which will be outdoors.

The indoor pitch is described as an AstroTurf area, ‘perfect for fun activities such as Zorb football, yoga classes and bootcamp, all of which can be arranged as part of your stay.’

In all, there will be eight bedrooms which can accommodate up to 30 people.

On the Celebration Cottages Facebook page, the venue is marketed as a ‘hen and stag party house’ and on the webpage the venue is billed as a ‘luxury hen party setting for large groups’.

Packages start at £185 per person for a two-night stay.

The Carriage House has been empty since owners Bev and Simon Fallone retired after running it for 16 years, putting it on the market with an asking price of £749,950.

Faye Ackroyd, managing director of Celebration Cottages, said: “It’s going to be a big holiday let with a mini indoor sports field – great for large family bookings in summer.

“Kids will love it.”

  1. Best wishes for the new enterprise.
They only disapointment is that we had a fantastic evening in June when a large number of vintage vehicles enthusiasts had a get together at the Carriage House. The former owner opened up especially for the evening such was the popularity of the get together. We also raised a good sum of money for charities such as Blood Bikes, the RNLI and the homeless aid Sandwich Angels.
We are really disappointed that this will now have come to an end.

  2. I am annoyed as it was a beautiful place to stay on the moor my wife and I are appalled what it has now become you are not taking history of venue tied to last of the summer wine and the Yorkshire moors so sorry not impressed at all wish you fall flat on your face sorry

  3. This is a disaster for Marsden Jazz Festival which is on this weekend. So many great gigs there and met loads of friends who stayed in caravans in the grounds. It is irreplaceable but that’s “,progress” so they say…….
