FRIEZLAND Brass Band have been celebrating a year with Musical Director Max Stannard at the helm.
The band, which faced the possibility of folding before Max took up the position, has had a successful year under his baton.
It is seen the band able to contest the legendary Whit Friday circuit for the first time in a number of years, as well as treble in size from eight to 24 players.
David Barker, Friezland chairman has been delighted with the progress made already with Max at the reigns.
He said: “Straight away we realised Max was the man to take us forward.
“Over the last year his musical knowledge and encouraging and un-demanding approach to rehearsals has created a great atmosphere.
“This has resulted in some of our best performances in years and has led to several players enthusiastically joining the band.”
Reflecting on his first 12 months as Musical Director, Max said: “It has been fantastic to see the band develop over the year.
“I would like to thank all of the players for their hard work and commitment. I am very proud of the progress we have made and look forward to our future projects.”
