HAPPY CHILDHOOD memories are being remembered and created as Friezland Primary School celebrates its centenary in 2015.
A year-long series of exciting events has been planned including a Christmas Fayre, discos and a Family Centenary Celebration – with proceeds to be spent on refurbishing the school hall.

The school is also calling for anybody with old photos or stories to get in touch and help create a ‘Friezland Through the Years’ book and memory board of their evolving history.
They are also selling a limited edition print specially commissioned to mark the Centenary as well as a whole-school photograph taken in October this year.
And they have a very special raffle competition offering a tour around the Good Moring Britain studios donated by breakfast TV star John Stapleton, whose mother used to teach at Friezland.
Headteacher Tracey Meadham said: “Being at the centre of the community, we are very proud to be able to bring everybody together to celebrate the centenary.
“We’ve had an overwhelming amount of support from parents, grandparents and governors and we are really looking forward to all the events.
“We’re aiming to raise as much funding as possible to refurbish the hall at the same time as having to deal with cuts of £54,000.
“We have an ambitious project to redecorate the hall, redesign the storage areas, create a partition, provide improved lighting and blinds and a new floor to leave a legacy for future generations.”
The celebrations will kick off at the school’s Christmas Fayre on Sunday, December 7 from 11am-2pm when there will be crafts, gifts, fun and games, special guest Father Christmas and centenary collectible memorabilia on sale.
Future events, organised by the Centenary Committee of governors, Friends of Friezland, parents, grandparents and school staff, include a school disco on Friday, February 13 followed by a Chocolate Bingo on Friday, March 27.
Then there will be a Centenary Celebration Spectacular on Saturday, June 13, a Halloween Disco on Friday, October 16 and a Family Centenary Celebration on Friday, November 20.
All the birthday celebrations will bear the official centenary logo, which was designed for the school’s competition by Faith Schofield.
Nick Jones, chair of governors and former pupil, added: “It’s a great way to reconnect with people. We want to make this a community project for everyone to enjoy.
“I’m most looking forward to the Family Celebration when we will have Friezland’s Got Talent to show off what sort of talents the pupils have.”
