Fun for all as Grotton Gala steams into town

A MINI steam train was the star attraction as families braved the grey skies to enjoy the Grotton Gala.

There was a host of games and goodies at the event at Grotton Pavilion, which was officially opened by chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council Cllr Rob Knotts and his wife Lesley.

From an obstacle course, bouncy slide, hook a duck, and quidditch to face painting, glitter tattoos, a cake stall, a tombola and refreshments, there was something for all ages.

Creative visitors could also test their skills in a competition to win a prize for the best robot model made from recyclable materials, or try their hand at sand art.

But most popular of all was the mini steam train, driven by Geoffrey Hilton from Greenfield, offering short rides, accompanied by plenty of smoke!

The event is organised annual by the Grotton & District Residents Association to help raise funds for the community.
