TWENTY-THREE goals, 15 years of business and one charity cause made a football fundraiser a great night for all.

IT firm Aspect IT, based in Springhead, set up the charity game at Soccer Factory in Rochdale in September to mark its recent milestone of 15 years as well as raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

They took on Oldham-based business Web Applications UK in a competitive affair, which ended with a score of 14-9 to Aspect IT at the final whistle.

Aspect IT donated £15 for every goal its team scored and also received donations from the business community, friends and family on their Just Giving page – raising over £400 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Alzheimer’s Society is an organisation significant to Aspect IT’s co-director, Ian Howarth, whose family was recently affected by the disease.

The charity provides vital support to people with dementia, and World Alzheimer’s Month is an international campaign every September to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia.

Commenting on the match, co-director Peter Dorotiak said: “The match was a great success. We raised more than we anticipated and we were able to celebrate our 15th birthday as a team, doing something we all enjoy.

“Alzheimer’s Society is a fantastic charity and we’re so pleased we could do our bit to support them.”

Steph Potts, Community Fundraiser at Alzheimer’s Society in Greater Manchester added: “We are so grateful that Aspect IT and Web Applications UK have united against dementia on the football pitch this World Alzheimer’s Month.

“Fundraising is not only a brilliant way to boost staff morale and engage other business but of course it is for the benefit of people living with dementia.

“Without support from people like Aspect IT we simply wouldn’t be here for the 30,000 people living with dementia in Greater Manchester alone.”

Founded in 2003 by Peter and Ian, Aspect IT provides IT services including web design, software development and IT support to small and medium sized businesses.

Since its inception, the firm has assisted hundreds of SMEs with IT support, network security, web design, e-commerce and software development.

Following its 15-year anniversary, Aspect IT has plans to double its present workforce and expand its portfolio of services to include greater emphasis on cyber security.

Donations for the event can still be given through Aspect IT’s Just Giving page:
