DECORATIVE HATS and glamorous dresses brightened up Saddleworth as locals turned out in force to celebrate Ladies Day and raise funds for good causes.
At The White Hart, Lydgate, dedicated fundraiser Gill Bussey raised approximately £3,500 for Dr Kershaw’s at her tenth annual lunch organised to mark the Ascot event.
182 ladies gathered for the function and pictured here are Joanne Penketh, Jenny McDermott, Gill Bussey, Brian Hurst and Liz Hibbert and Dr Kershaw’s mascot Hope.
Gill said: “It was a excellent afternoon and I’m delighted we raised so much.”

Meanwhile, at the Old Bell Inn in Delph, it was a first ever Ladies Day lunch for Saddleworth Parish Council chairman’s lady Carol Allsopp.
She dined with 55 ladies, including the Mayoress of Oldham Cllr Yasmin Toor, and raised around £600 for the chairman’s charities.
Carol said: “It was a lovely afternoon. I have never been to a Ladies Day lunch before and didn’t know what to expect!
“But it was very well received as well as raising money for the charities.”
And she was delighted the Mayoress agreed to join them for the lunch – despite being in a period of fasting for Ramadan.
The Mayoress said: “I didn’t want to miss the event and it doesn’t bother me at all if others are eating around me!”
