Greenfield pub scoops Trip Advisor award for second year in a row

A PRESTIGIOUS seal of approval has been stamped on a popular Greenfield pub by their impressed customers.

The Clarence on Chew Valley Road has scooped a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for the second year in a row thanks to rave reviews from their diners.

The family-run pub has notched up an average of four-and-a-half stars for its food, atmosphere, service and value – moving them in the top ten per cent of establishments worldwide on the leading review site to earn them the top accolade once again.p25 the clarence

Some of the praise diners posted on Trip Advisor included “I eat here regularly and would recommend everything!” and “the food was excellent, as was the service and the staff were so friendly.”

Melvin Robinson runs the pub with his wife Ann and daughters Michelle and Pippa while head chef Steven Norris serves up the mouth-watering menu.

Melvin said: “We didn’t know we were going to win it and it’s nice to get it two years on the trot.”

Pippa added: “Most of our reviews from customers are four or five stars so it’s nice to see they like what we offer.”

And Michelle said: “We’re really pleased. We’re committed to providing great service to keep our customers happy.

“We look over the reviews each week as it is a good way to see how we are doing and what we might need to change.

“We want to thank all our customers old and new for their continued support.”

The pub offers an extensive menu including home-made pizzas, fish, curries, burgers, steaks and desserts, as well as vegetarian options, children’s and senior citizen’s menus, and Sunday Roast Dinner.

And a new ‘megaburger’ offers a challenge for hungry customers to see if they can finish the enormous beefburger stuffed with onion rungs, salad, cheese and bacon, served alongside chips.

The pub also likes to do their part for the community and recently hosted a family fun day, complete with bouncy castle and stalls, to raise £500.

The money will go to the Moravian Church in Dukinfield to help with the preparation of food hampers for the most needy in the community.
