A SMALL salon in Uppermill is proving it’s a cut above the others after being awarded a prestigious title.
Hannah Davison, from Studio Five on New Street, has been named a ‘Beauty Works Master Extensionist’ by the UK’s leading hair extensions company.
It means 25-year-old Hannah, who lives in Mossley, is among an elite group of around 30 hairstylists in the country to have been awarded the accolade.
Delighted Hannah, who runs Studio Five with her mum Joanne, said: “In the last year we started working with Beauty Works, a huge brand which works with Jen Atken, hairstylist to the Kardashians.
“I have been working towards achieving their Master Extensionist title but I was ecstatic to get it. Hopefully it’s the first award of many!
“It’s a great achievement for a little salon on a side street in Uppermill. We are the only company within a 30-mile radius of Saddleworth to have this title.
“It’s brilliant for the village too as it brings people in to shop elsewhere as well, and they say how beautiful it is and didn’t realise it’s here on the edge of Manchester.”
Hannah, a fully qualified hairstylist, first started working in Studio Five as an apprentice about five years ago and completed her hair extensions qualifications two years ago.
She has worked in Manchester, and had offers of work from there and in London, but enjoys working with her mum at the salon, which has been in Uppermill for more than 30 years.
She added: “I’ve been wearing extensions for about 14 years and I’ve always had a passion for them so I knew it was something I was going to pursue.
“I found Beauty Works myself and knew it is good quality so I have been using them ever since and people seem to love it.
“We have people travelling from all over the country to have their hair done here. I’ve even had a client recently who came from Spain!
“Anybody can have extensions but a lot of people fail to realise that. I’ve got clients whose ages range from 18 to 65!”
