SADDLEWORTH School’s year nine basketball team has slam dunked its way to become Oldham schools’ champions.
It also completed a hat-trick for the team which was also crowned year seven and eight champions.
Saddleworth defeated Failsworth 13-10 in a hard-fought final at the Oldham Sport For All Centre, Hollinwood.
Having won all six of their group games over Crompton House, Oasis Academy, Newbridge, Leesfield Academy, Royton and Crompton and eventual runners up Failsworth, Saddleworth went into the final as favourites.
However, a spirited Failsworth battled bravely all the way to the final buzzer, going down by just three points.
All eight of the Saddleworth squad registered points during the afternoon with Jack Thompson being voted as the most valuable player overall.
