Husband and strife! Wedding woes are a laughing matter

IF you suddenly discovered, after 25 years of wedlock, you had never been legally married to your spouse what would you do? Furthermore, what would the neighbours think ?JB Priestley’s classic comedy ‘When We Are Married’ is the next production by Uppermill Stage Society from Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 18 at Ebenezer Congregational Church Hall.

Set in 1908 the play revolves around a group of three respectable couples, old friends and all married on the same day in the same chapel.

At their silver wedding celebrations, they discover the ceremonies were performed by a minister who was not authorised to do so.

These pillars of the community realise they have been living in sin all this time, resulting in a night of comic mayhem where reputations are fretted over and a few home truths are spoken.
