YOU WILL not get served by superheroes every time you visit a new Failsworth business venture…

But step inside Fantas-tech on Partington Street and you can still suspend reality for a while to browse through the comics, collectables and gadgets on sale.
Owner Mike Johnston and Springhead-based Andy Hough became their alter egos for a day as the shop opened its doors for the first time last month.
Now the dynamic duo hope their selling powers will ensure a bumper first Christmas takings.
“I was Clark Kent turning into Superman when we opened,” explained Andy. “We had the Green Hornet, V for Vendetta, Star Trek characters and a few other random ones.
“I used to work in the entertainment industry as a sound and lighting engineer so this is completely different,” he admitted.
“But Mike always wanted to open his own shop and this opportunity came along.
“We sell games, board games, loads of comics, collectables like Pokémon cards while we also repair and service computers and mobile phones.”

And as an opening offer customers can win a top of the range gaming PC worth £700.
“All they have to do is buy something from the shop – there’s no minimum spend – and names will be entered into a draw,” explained Andy.
“The competition is open until December 18 and the winner will get everything they need just to plug in and start gaming.”
Before Fantas-tech came to life the pair were already in business as Tec-fix, a technical support company, providing a variety of services including ICT support.
Knowsley Junior School on Stoneleigh Road, Springhead is a client – but superheroes don’t come as standard!
