This can lead to feeling low in mood, resulting in mindless eating and being less active – so now is a great time to remind yourself why losing weight, or simply eating healthily, is important to you.

Set yourself a realistic goal for the festive season and draw up a plan of attack.  Write your plan down and shop smart.  Think of any events coming up you may have to work round and plan in some healthy meals to fit in with the family.

Try using lean protein and seasonal vegetables and switch to wholegrain bread, pasta and rice as these will fill you up quicker and keep you fuller for longer.

Soups are always great to fill you up as well so try out the quick, simple recipe below.

Research shows that activity can lift your mood so in your plan make sure to include easy ways to move more, like a daily walk.

Losing just 7lbs before Christmas would really have benefits to your overall well-being and that is an easy, realistic goal to aim for.
