KEVIN SINFIELD’S illustrious Rugby League career could be set for one final glorious chapter.

As the 34-year-old from Grotton prepares to switch rugby codes to union later this year, he has every chance of bowing out with further silverware.
Rhino’s have won through to the final of the Challenge Cup at Wembley at the end of August while they are also in pursuit of the league winners’ shield and glory in the Grand Final.
Kevin, already one of the game’s most decorated players, said: “It is an exciting time having reached the Challenge Cup final.
“We are also top of the First Utilities Super League going into the Super Eights and hopefully we can also make the Grand Final.”
Former Waterhead player Kevin and his Rhinos team-mates are forbidden by the club to talk about the final of the Challenge Cup against Hull KR at Wembley on Saturday, August 26.
“We have a couple of Super Eight games before then and the club want us to focus on them before we start thinking of Wembley,” he explained.
Last year Kevin captained Rhinos to victory in the Challenge Cup, a competition which had become their Holy Grail. They had lost six finals in a row and Kevin had appeared in five of them.
The Challenge Cup had remained elusive while Kevin had won six Grand Finals, two League Leaders’ Shields and three World Club Challenges.
Kevin has decided to have a swansong playing Rugby Union for Rhino’s sister club Yorkshire Carnegie who also play at Headingley.
JOE GREENWOOD, a former Saddleworth Rangers player just starting out on his career with St Helens, is being tipped for great things.
The 22-year-old second-row forward from Scouthead, who was spotlighted in the Independent at the start of the Super League season, could be destined for an international career according to former Great Britain coach Brian Noble.
Greenwood made his Saints’ debut in 2012, but it is this year that he has made the biggest impression with a spell of eight tries in 12 games.
That is despite a broken leg in April which halted his progress before he returned in June.
“I don’t think an international future is far away,” Noble told BBC Super League Show.
“He’s a big thing with great skills as well. He’s big, strong and athletic, knows what he needs to do and fits well into the Saints system.”
