Learn to sail at Dovestones

LEARN TO sail in beautiful surroundings at Dovestone Sailing Club which is a Royal Yachting Association Training Centre.

Dovestone Reservoir provides ideal sailing waters for all levels of ability so how about learning to sail on this fabulous stretch of water?

You have probably walked around the reservoir and watched the boats on a Sunday or Wednesday evening. If you have thought about learning to sail then 2013 is the year to take the next step.

Whether you are taking your first steps afloat or want to develop your skills, the club has a dedicated team of instructors and coaches to look after you.

All their courses are run to the guidelines and recommendations of the RYA, the national governing body for sailing in Britain.

Don’t worry you don’t need your own boat – this will be provided by the club. Whenever you are on the water there will be a fast safety boat there for your piece of mind.

The club is running RYA Dinghy Sailing Level 1 and 2 courses on these dates:  27th/28th April, 13th/14th July, 14th/15th September.

Contact Mal Hartland – trainingdsc@googlemail.com for details. Dinghy sailing is not an expensive sport. If, after taking a course, you decide to join the club you will be able to go on the boat borrowing scheme or you could crew for another member. More information is available on the club’s website – www.dovestonesc.org.uk

  1. Hi we are a family of mixed ages staying at Dovestones in the second week of April. Are there any opportunities to have a sailing or boating opportunity? I remember sailing the lake in my teens on a school expedition, I would love to give my grandchildren a similar experience.
    Kind regards
    Sue
