Locals advised to be vigilant after flagstone thefts in Saddleworth

LOCALS are advised to be vigilant after several incidents of flagstones being stolen in the community.

The Independent has received reports about stone paving flags being taken from the pavement at Hill End Road in Delph in early August.

Around the same time, flag stones also went missing from Kilngreen Church and Community Hall in Diggle.

And more than 20 flagstones were taken from outside St Chads Church, above Uppermill, in a third incident just days later.

In previous years, thieves have taken flag stones as well as carved tops from across Saddleworth and Mossley.

Locals are encouraged to look out for any suspicious activity and be particularly alert if they are having any development work done or are going away.

Police have been informed of the thefts and are carrying out enquiries.

Anything suspicious should be reported to GMP by calling 101 in a non-emergency or 999 in an emergency.
