Angie O’Reilly held a special farewell party at the Diggle Hotel to draw her two years there to a close.

The bubbly landlady is stepping back temporarily from the pub scene following the unexpected death of her husband Billy in February from natural causes.

She admitted: “I lost my partner and it was just too much. It’s not just the pub here, it’s a B&B and the food too and it’s a lot of work.

“I’ll be out of action now for a few months as I’m having a knee operation – but I’m sure I won’t be out of the game for long and I’ll be back.”

Angie, who previously ran the Cross Keys in Uppermill with Billy, added: “I want to thank all our customers who supported us at the party and over the years.

“It was a wonderful night. Lots of people came up, including 30 bikes from Sheffield! It was great and really nice just to say goodbye.”
