FABULOUS FIREWORKS and family fun will be the focus at Oldham Edge on Thursday, November 5 as the popular ‘Big Bang’ Bonfire Night event returns.

This year’s show by Oldham Council is themed ‘Out of this World’ and for the first time that will be reflected across the entire stageshow, acts, displays and fireworks.

Newcomers to the event this year are Thingumajig Theatre who will bring a ‘wow’ factor with ‘Jellish’, a bloom of giant illuminated jellyfish which transforms night time streets into a magical in-between world.

Jim McMahon, Oldham Council Leader, said: “The amazing fireworks display will always be the main attraction to The Big Bang but we know people will also want it to have a great sense of occasion.

“That’s why this year we’ve worked even harder than ever to deliver a better event, all based around the ‘Out of this World’ theme.

“I’d also like to remind everyone that one lucky child can win the chance to push the button that launches our fantastic fireworks display at around 7pm.

“You can enter the free prize draw on our website where you will also find a site map and all the other information you need.”

The Oldham Edge site will open from 5pm starting with a funfair and delicious food stalls.

Elliott Eastwick, popular breakfast show DJ from our event partners Revolution 96.2, will then officially start guiding the crowds through the event when the stageshow starts at 6pm.

Elliot said: “I loved being on the mic for last year’s event – it was a massive thrill to host it and a fantastic night.”

“This is the best entertainment you can get on Bonfire Night and, best of all, it is completely safe and won’t cost you a penny.”

The Big Bang is sponsored by the NSL Group, which manages Oldham Council’s parking offer. Free car parking will be available on November 5 in all council-owned town centre car parks from 3pm onwards.
