Detectives investigating death of woman in Oldham are no longer treating it as murder

Detectives investigating the death of a woman in Oldham are no longer treating it as murder. 

Shortly after 8.45pm on Wednesday 26 September 2018, police were called by the ambulance service to an address on Acorn Close in Chadderton to reports that a woman had fallen.

Officers attended and a 49-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 54-year-old year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. However, following enquiries there are no longer believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and the man has since been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the coroner.

Detective Inspector Kenny Blain of GMP’s Oldham Borough, said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family of the woman at this time.
