THE body of a man found on Saddleworth Moor on Sunday, February 18 has been formally identified as Bernard Gaunt.

The 51-year-old from Oldham had been missing since the early hours of Friday, January 26 after being spotted on Werneth Hall Road, Werneth.
A family member then saw him the following day at Dovestone Reservoir in Greenfield.
Oldham Mountain Rescue and Greater Manchester Police initially searched the popular Saddleworth beauty spot without successfully locating Mr Gaunt.
However, a runner out on the moors above Greenfield Reservoir on Sunday found a body on February 18 and alerted emergency services.
A Coastguard helicopter was used to initially move the body.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the discovery in a statement on Monday and have now named the man.
It said: “The body of a missing man found on Dovestone Reservoir has now been formally identified.
“At around 10.50am on Sunday 18 February 2018 police were called to reports that the body of a man had been found at Dovestone Reservoir.
“The man has been formally identified as 51-year-old Bernard Gaunt and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. A file will be passed to the coroner.”
