CHILDREN and staff at Moorside Stars Nursery are celebrating after receiving the Millie’s Mark award in recognition of the high quality and skills of their childcare practitioners. The award is given to childcare settings that can prove they exceed the national requirements for paediatric first aid and care for children.
Moorside Stars, which opened in September 2018 on Turfpit Lane, did just that thanks to the full training given to every single member of their staff.
Kim Ratcliffe, area manager for the nursery whose motto is ‘Where Children Shine Brightly’, said: “I am so proud to be part of the Stars family.
“When I first met owners Tory and Rafael Fernandez I realised their vision for childcare made Moorside Stars a truly special place where the children would always come first.
“Every child in our care is respected as an individual and our lives are dedicated to making each day at the nursery fun, safe, exciting and full of happiness”
Tory added: “The national standard in childcare settings has for too long only required one person on site to be qualified in paediatric first aid.
“This means that in many nurseries the person looking after a child may not have the knowledge to help them in a medical situation.
“Since we started Moorside Stars Nursery we have always ensured every single member of staff receives full training so all the children are always with a qualified person.”
This is the latest award for Moorside Stars which was recently acknowledged for their high standards in the National Nursery Recognition Awards.
They were awarded ‘Best Newcomer’, beating thousands of nurseries across the UK to impress the judging panel and be named winners.
Rafael said: “We are so proud of our amazing, dedicated, passionate team. The Stars family works so hard to fill each day with smiles, love and laughter for the children.
“To be recognised for such a prestigious award is a credit to every member of staff, our parents and every child that attends Moorside Stars.”
A mouth-watering Tea Party was held at Moorside Stars to celebrate both achievements.
