Mountain Rescue Team to hold fundraising Hearing Awareness event

Hearing aids save lives…

14225510_1578238442481214_5350456747110792047_nWell, not all the time. But there was an instance last year when they did help to rescue the crew of a small dinghy just off the cliffs in Cornwall. Here’s what happened:

The dinghy capsized just offshore but out of earshot of most people taking a leisurely stroll on the cliff-top. Apart from one lady, gardening on a quiet afternoon.

She did hear the cries for help – even though her husband next to her didn’t. And why? Luckily she had been fitted with hearing aids the day previous.

Meanwhile inland and much further north, hearing aids are featuring in another story.

Courtesy of local hearing aid audiologist Matthew Parry, his local Mountain Rescue Team is holding a Hearing Awareness Event on Friday, September 23 at the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Headquarters – Emergency House, Manchester Road, HD7 6EY.

For every hearing assessment at one of his open days organised by the HVMRT, bloom™ are donating £5.

No purchase is necessary if you do take the offer, but if you do decide to purchase a hearing system then a further £50 is given to the charity.

You need to be over 50 to qualify, when it should be part of your living well regime anyway.

So, if you want to do some good – for yourself as well as for charity – contact Matt’s team weekdays on 01724 869553 and quote “Mountain Rescue open day”.

Find out more about the event on their Facebook page.
