Mum holds Prosecco Evening fundraiser

A DOTING mother is organising a Prosecco Evening in memory of her daughter to raise much-needed funds for two charities close to her heart.

Rebecca Froggatt gave birth to Ella-Jane in 2009 – but born 16 weeks early and weighing just 1lb 2oz, the baby was sadly too sick and too small to survive.logo saddleworth independent

Now, Rebecca, 26, is holding the fundraiser to mark the fifth anniversary of her daughter’s birth and death as well as raise money for Bliss Children’s Charity and Saying Goodbye, who supported her afterwards.

Rebecca, now mum to Leah, 3, explained: “The two charities we are raising funds for plough research into premature labour and support parents in the aftermath.

“Without them I am not sure where we would be so we’d like to give something back especially at such a momentous anniversary.

“Ella-Jane will always be with us and her memory and legacy will live on in our family until the end of time.

“During the grieving process, apart from family and friends, I never really had anywhere to turn. There were no publications around and no guidance or aftercare from the NHS.

“One day I saw a post for a cathedral service in Manchester celebrating angel babies – the charity organising it was Saying Goodbye.

“Since first attending in March 2012 I have been to two other services and read a passage or poem at both. This gave me the opportunity to meet other parents who were also bereaved.

“I no longer felt as if I was the only person in the world facing such grief. Without them I really don’t know where or how I would be – but they require donations to fund the services they organise around the UK.”

The ticketed event will be held on Thursday, August 14 at Muse Bistro and Wine Bar, Uppermill, with drinks on arrival, canapés and a raffle with great prizes.

There will also be live music from Marcus, an up-and-coming acoustic singer who is a regular artist at Muse.

Tickets cost £15 each and are available from Muse or on Rebecca’s website, where you can read more about her story: http://mvswebdesign.com/dev/rebecca-froggatt
