YOU DON’T have to be a boyband to sell out a gig in the time it takes to log onto the internet…
You can actually be a double act with a combined age of 127 and get the same result.
So, when tickets went on sale for a show featuring Salford music legends, Peter Hook and Mike Sweeney, they were snapped up faster than for One Direction’s farewell concert.
And that’s good news for another Saddleworth musical institution.
So, forget the three Rs – it’s all about the three Ps at The Swan Inn at Dobcross on Wdnesday, September 30 – Pies, Peas and Punk.
Ex Joy Division and New Order bassist, Hook, 59, and Saddleworth based Sweeney, 68 this month, have joined forces for a one-off night of conversation and unplugged accoustic entertainment with proceeds in support of Dobcross Silver Band.
A spokesman for Hook told the Independent: “They are old mates and thought it would be a great idea to get together for something a bit different.
“It’s certainly caught the imagination of the locals as tickets went in less than five minutes after becoming available.”
Sweeney and his latest band, the Thunderbirds, are one of the star attractions at the 10th Party in the Park in Delph on Saturday, September 19.
