AN AWARD-WINNING solicitors firm has added two new members of staff to its team as they expand.
Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers welcome Helen Law to their Private Client team while Stacy Fox becomes part of the Family and Childcare department.
Helen has more than 20 years’ experience specialising in the preparation of Wills, dealing with Probate, estate administration, and inheritance tax planning and trusts.
A member of the Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE) organisation, she is particularly interested in providing specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers.
She said: “I am pleased to be part of a vibrant and forward thinking firm. Pearson’s client care is exceptional and I hope to get to know as many clients as possible.
Helen is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists and an approved panel member of MENCAP, able to advise families when they have special health care needs.
Meanwhile, former Hathershaw School and Oldham Sixth Form pupil Stacy has returned to Oldham and will focus on Local Authority proceedings and child disputes, including contact, residence and removal from the jurisdiction.
She said: “Each client has unique needs and expectations and I strive to achieve the best possible outcome for them by working in collaboration and when necessary presenting their case in court.”
Stacy previously headed up the matrimonial and family department of Gartangs Burrows Bussin in Bolton after qualifying at the former Pearson Hinchliffe Solicitors in 2004.
A member of the Law Society Children Panel, she represents children as well as parents, and as an accredited member of the Law Society’s Advanced Family Law Panel, she specialises in ancillary relief and domestic abuse cases and sits on the Manchester Resolution Committee.
She also assists with pro-bono clinics at Manchester Civil Justice Centre and the Oldham County Court clinic.
Practice Manager and Partner Jo Ormston said: “It’s wonderful to welcome two members of staff of such a high calibre. Both Stacy and Helen are experts in their field and bring a wealth of experience and skills with them.”
Pearson Solicitors, which first opened in 1874 and has developed into one of theNorth West’s leading law firms, offers a complete range of legal and financial services to private and commercial clients.
And their focus at the moment is on offering specialist help, particularly in relation to assets and pensions, for people over 50 going through a divorce or separation.
National statistics reveal ‘silver divorces’ have tripled in the last ten years and Pearson Solicitors want to help clients through the difficult – and often complicated – time.
Mr Prince, of Pearson Solicitors, said: “While any split can be difficult, often with older clients there are issues involved which may not be obvious, such as financial inequality, differing future needs, issues with ill health and of course professional pensions advice.
“The added bonus of a financial team which Pearson’s have in house means that we have been able to assist many clients in achieving a fair settlement, with the benefit of bespoke financial advice.”
