A NEW mouth-watering array of creative and seasonal dishes are on offer at a popular Scouthead inn as the new head chef adds his own touch to the menu.
Stephen Mitchell, 33, has taken the step up from assistant head chef to the executive role after Paul Cookson left to pursue a new venture.
And the chef, who has worked in Saddleworth for six years, is already enjoying expanding and putting his own twist on what the pub has to offer.
He explained: “Paul things changed quite a bit but I’ve got my own ideas too.
“I’vedone a lot of travelling so I’ll use those influences as well as keep to what people like from around here. Dishes will change with the seasons too.
Stephen’s other additions to the menu so far include a mouth-watering smoked salmon starter and a cool Greek salad with succulent salt marsh rump of lamb.
And for those with a sweet tooth, there’s gooseberry and apple crumble with ice-cream, supplied by Grandpa Greene’s in Diggle.
Stephen, who previously worked with Paul at the White Hart at Lydgate, added: “It has been really good so far.
“I was offered the position before Christmas but it wasn’t the right time but it is now and I am really enjoying it.”
