AFTER WELCOMING new landlords just four months ago, a popular Greenfield pub now has another exciting new addition – a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
Since taking the reins at The Clarence in February, The Robinson family have propelled the pub restaurant up the top travel site’s rankings from 17th to fourth out of 192 across Oldham.
And their success – with an 85 per cent customer satisfaction rating – has moved them in the top ten per cent of establishments worldwide on the site to earn them the prestigious accolade.
Couple Ann and Mel, who had the Bulls Head on Ripponden Road for 15 years, run the pub with daughters Michelle and Pippa while long-time family friend Steven Norris is head chef.
The family said: “Winning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence is a true source of pride for the entire team at The Clarence, especially as we only opened our doors four months ago.
“We’d like to thank all our guests who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor, and also our regulars for their warm welcome and support. We feel privileged to be a part of Greenfield.
“With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence.”
On their path to success, the family has made a few changes, including retarmacking the outside seating area, redressing the tables in the restaurant, adding televisions and hosting live music nights.
They have also extended their menu to include mouth-watering choices such as home-made pizzas, fish, curries, burgers, steaks and desserts, as well as vegetarian options, children’s and senior citizen’s menus, and Sunday Roast Dinner.
The pub also hosted an array of special offers during the football World Cup and served up frogs’ legs during the Tour de France to help customers get in the spirit of the events.
Michelle added: “We are loving it so far and everyone has made us feel so welcome.
“We really enjoy working as a family unit rather than each doing our own separate jobs – and we work well together.”
