MEMBERS OF a new Slimming World group in Uppermill are fighting fit after shedding a staggering 25.5 stone in just three weeks.
Claire Meyer started the sessions at the Civic Hall in September after being inspired to help others after her own dramatic weight loss at the Springhead group run by Helen Obgorn.
And less than a month in, she is delighted with the losses achieved by the members of her two groups as they begin the countdown to the festive season.
Mum-of-two Claire said: “After the first three weeks the groups have lost an amazing 25.5 stone and the members are starting to feel the health benefits too.
“It’s great to see healthy eating and healthy living making a difference. I am so inspired by the members’ commitment to making great choices and changing their lives.
“I am excited to support them to reach their goals and every week brings so much joy.
“The support members offer each other in group is fantastic, sharing advice and recipes, and we learn from each other every week.”
Their success was celebrated at a party in October when members donned festive jumpers and hats to launch their 12-week programme before Christmas.
The group feasted on healthy treats, including quiche, curry loaf, chocolates and puddings, baked by members and enjoyed festive games, quizzes and a raffle.
And each member wrote a personal wish on a gift tag to hang up at home and aim to achieve before Christmas.
Claire added: “I can’t wait to work with the groups and see their Christmas wishes come true.
“I had struggled to lose weight on my own but being part of a group was key to my success.”
Claire’s Slimming World groups at the Civic Hall in Uppermill are held on Wednesdays at 7.30pm and Thursdays at 9.30am. For more information contact Claire on 07900 003946.
