Nominations sought for annual Volunteer of Saddleworth Awards

NOMINATIONS ARE being sought for the annual Volunteer of Saddleworth Awards next month.

On Friday, May 13, Chairman of Saddleworth Parish Council Neil Allsopp will present the awards to one person or group and one young person for their dedication to others.

This awards honour those who donate time and effort to charity work or have shown dedication in helping others in need of support either in the community or at home.

Jenny Begley was last year’s winner for her community work over almost 20 years, including with Wake Up Delph, Delph Senior Citizens, the village library and Saddleworth Players.

The awards are open to anyone who lives in Saddleworth and receives no payment for their charitable work (young people is anyone up to the age of 16).

They will be presented this year by the Parish Council chairman at a dinner at The Three Crowns, Scouthead, 7pm for 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 per person.

Please send nominations with the reason why the person/s deserve the award to Cllr Neil Allsopp: 23 St. Marys Drive, Greenfield, Saddleworth OL3 7DT.

If you wish to attend the dinner please also include your address, cheque, name of those attending and menu choices for the 2 courses: Chicken or vegetarian option, pudding or cheese board.
