A NOSTALGIC reunion for Oldham Hulmeians is being planned for this summer to mark the 40thanniversary of their ‘escape from school’.
Grasscroft resident and former pupil Paul Rooney decided to organise the joint event for boys and girls who, in the main, started at the grammar school in 1968 and left after A Levels in 1975.
So far, with the help of Paul Stock and Jackie Taylor, around 50 pupils from their year group have been tracked down across the country following an article in the Hulme Link.
And they hope still more former classmates will be interested in attending the event on Saturday, June 6 at the Manchester Airport Marriott Hotel.
“40 years after leaving school, some of the girls still apparently have the energy left to dance to Roxy Music, Hot Chocolate and Status Quo!” said Paul Stock.
It has been suggested some of the former teachers might be interested in putting in an appearance and are very welcome so those concerned please get in touch too.
