Past Saddleworth Golf Club captains raise £8,500 for charities

SADDLEWORTH GOLF Club captain Andy Dunster and lady captain Julie Ward raised almost £8,500 for two charities during their year of office in 2014.

And the captains’ charity cheques have been presented to the RNLI and the Benjamin Maly Cardiac Fund.

Julie’s son is a professional sailor and currently is second in command of a luxury yacht in the Med so the RNLI has always been close to her heart and she presented them with £3,485.

Ben, who was born in October 2013 with a serious heart problem, had to undergo extensive heart surgery at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Hospital on three occasions.

Parents Graham and Carrie will be forever in their debt which is why Andy, a good friend of Graham, wanted to help other children who have heart problems and raised £5,000.
