Pitter Patter Kids prepares for move into former Lucy Cobb shop in Uppermill

A NEW chapter is beginning on Uppermill High Street as children’s footwear specialist Pitter Patter Kids prepares to move into the former home of one of the village’s best-known independent retailers.

Pitter Patter Kids Shoes Ltd is getting ready to relocate to the premises previously occupied by Lucy Cobb, which closed its physical store in August after 20 years at the heart of the village.

Lucy Cobb’s final day at the High Street shop was August 22, bringing an end to two decades of trading from the premises. The fashion business has continued online, with plans also outlined for occasional pop-up events in Uppermill.

Owner Lucy previously explained that changing shopping habits and the growth of online retail had contributed to the decision, while encouraging people to continue supporting Uppermill’s independent businesses.

Now the familiar shopfront is preparing for its next chapter as Pitter Patter Kids gets ready to make the move.

The specialist children’s shoe business is already established in Uppermill and has begun teasing customers with glimpses of what it has planned for its new home.

Sharing an autumn-themed image of the premises, the team said: “With it getting darker earlier, and the weather changing, we’re starting to think more and more about our move!

“Who else can’t wait to see what we do with the place? Who will be coming to see us?”

The move will ensure the prominent village premises continues to be occupied by an independent local retailer following Lucy Cobb’s departure.

For Pitter Patter Kids, it also represents a new stage for the business as work continues behind the scenes ahead of welcoming customers into its new home.

Further details about the move and opening are expected to be announced as preparations progress.
