Police investigating after discovery of body in Oldham

Police are investigating after the discovery of a body in Oldham.

At 7.30pm on Thursday 5 March 2015, police were called following reports the body of a man had been discovered at a house on Anchor Street.

Officers attended and discovered a 68-year-old man.

An investigation has been launched to establish how the man died and a post-mortem will take place this afternoon.

Detective Inspector Jason Byrne said: “At the moment, we do not know how this man died and we are keeping an open mind.

“The post-mortem will take place later and will hopefully shed some light on whether a third party was involved or if there are no suspicious circumstances.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour around the Anchor Street area over the past few days or if they believe they know what has happened to contact police.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8267 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
