THE POLICE are urging residents to be vigilant and take extra care to secure their vehicles after a spate of thefts from cars across Saddleworth.
In an email to locals, the Oldham borough police team confirmed that on Friday 26/Saturday 27 February, a total of five thefts from motor vehicles were reported to police.
These took place at Station Approach and Tamewater Court in Delph and Clydesdale Rise, Sam Road and Spurn Lane in Diggle, where all the vehicles had been left insecure.
The police advise residents to not leave any belongings on display in vehicles, remove stereos if possible and not to leave satellite navigation systems on display and remove the cradle.
And they ask residents to consider fitting safety devices and if the glove box is empty leave it open when parked.
They concluded: “We would ask that you be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Police, with a description of the person/s involved if possible.
“Unfortunately we have had no witnesses to the crimes as yet and no arrests have been made.
“If you have any information or are a witness to any person/s seen in the area possibly committing these offences please do not hesitate to phone 101 the non-emergency number.”
