Popular Oldham Ability Roadshow returns with host of sports across borough

THE POPULAR Oldham Ability Roadshow will return from March 17 to 20 at various locations across the borough.

The Ability Roadshow, hosted by Oldham Council’s Sport Development Team, provides young people with disabilities and additional needs who attend a mainstream school with the opportunity to engage in sports they may not have the opportunity to try.

The purpose of the annual event is to create opportunities for the young people between schools and community sports clubs and activities on offer include Thai boxing, wheelchair basketball and fencing.

The roadshow will take place at a different venue over the four days:

Mahdlo Youth Zone– Tuesday 9.30am-1pm

Oldham Academy North– Wednesday 9.30am-1pm

The Radclyffe Specialist Technology College – Thursday 9.30am-1pm

The Hathershaw College of Technology and sport – Friday  9.30am-1pm 

Around 50 schools – involving 295 young people aged between eight and 13 from across the borough – will take part.

Further information regarding community clubs and further provision regarding each sport is made available for the young people to take home, to encourage them to continue within sport.
