A TOP senior care provider is celebrating after receiving its first Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Home Instead Senior Care, whose national chain includes an office on Uppermill High Street, received the prestigious award for bringing innovation to the sector.
They are one of just 92 recipients of the innovation award this year, and will join another 157 winners of the International Trade and Sustainable Development awards at a special reception at Buckingham Palace.
Mick Sheehan, who owns Home Instead in Oldham with his wife Jenny, said: “When we joined Home Instead in 2009 the company was little known and had just 26 offices in the country.
“With a growing national network that now covers 170 locations, it’s fantastic to see increased market awareness and recognition for the brand.
“Together, we’re slowly but surely changing public opinion about the quality of homecare in the UK.
“Our companionship model combats social isolation and focuses on the well-being of each of our Clients compared to the rushed, task orientated visits that have become the norm.
“I’m extremely proud of all our team for helping to make a real difference!”
Trevor Brocklebank, Chief Executive of Home Instead Senior Care added: “On behalf of our national network we are honoured to receive this prestigious business accolade.
“We provide five million hours of relationship-led homecare each year. We couldn’t do this without our dedicated army of CAREGivers on the ground.
“This award pays testimony to their devotion to our mission to change the face of ageing in the UK.”
Home Instead brought the home-based social care model to the UK in 2005 and their mission is to deliver companionship-based care built around individual needs.
Their service addresses a growing demand from an ageing population and includes home visits from caregivers, light housework, and help with shopping, activities and appointments.
The company also delivers specialist Alzheimer’s and dementia care plus end-of-life and respite care.
They were recently named the UK’s top homecare provider by healthcare experts LaingBuisson and is the first to receive three Outstanding Ratings from the Care Quality Commission (CCQ).
