Rainbow colours to fill town centre as Oldham Pride returns

RAINBOW COLOURS will fill the town centre as Oldham Pride returns on Saturday, July 25.

The day, which is hosted by the Oldham LGBT Consortium, starts at 11.30am in the town centre followed by a spectacular and colourful parade to Gallery Oldham.

There, top Manchester drag queens Misty Chance and Danny Beard will host an afternoon of fun featuring live entertainment, stalls, children’s events and a licensed bar.

This year the official after party will move to George Square where Danny Beard will continue to host a fantastic line up of singers and drag queens on stage.

Councillor Jim McMahon, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “Oldham Pride is now in its second decade and the event has grown into one of the biggest dates on the town centre’s calendar.

“It continues to go from strength to strength and this year’s line-up includes some local acts.

“As well as providing an entertaining day Oldham Pride has an important message to reinforce about how homophobia, transphobia and biphobia are still issues that need to be addressed and challenged daily.”
