TWO NEW consultation rooms and extra staff members are helping Leesbrook Surgery improve the services they can offer patients.
And the clinic on Mellor Street has also launched a patient participation group to give patients a voice about how their services are run.
Linda Greenbank, Practice Manager at Leesbrook Surgery, said: “Like all surgeries we have struggled to meet access to doctors, all appointments for the day being taken by 8.30am.
“We had long discussions on how we could make changes and decided to have work done on the interior of the building to make two more consultation rooms.
“We advertised for a surgery matron and a practitioner and we have been very lucky to fill the roles with two excellent team members.
“The Practitioner will triage all patients that ring on the day for same day appointments and she will sign post them to the correct clinician for their ailment.
“This service has been of a great advantage as we now are able to offer same day appointments 95 per cent of the time.
“The surgery matron’s role is to see patients over the age of 75 and complete a full Health and Social Care review, making referrals to appropriate services as required.
“Patients have commented the service is of high quality and they are able to access the appropriate clinician without delay.”
