Roll up, roll up for Knowsley News

THE POPULAR Saddleworth Independent newspaper better watch out because a new publication is taking the area by storm.

A talented team of young writers from Knowsley Junior School in Springhead launched their first four-page newspaper in January – and it proved to be an instant roaring success.

All 200 copies of ‘Knowsley News’ were snapped up by pupils and parents as it was sold outside the school by the newspaper club for 20p per copy.

Including round-ups of news, views from pupils, comments on national issues, pictures, puzzles and sports, the newspaper covers life at the primary school each month.

Teacher Miss Jeffares, who runs the newspaper club, said: “The pupils have done a wonderful job and we’re so proud to get the first issue printed and sold.

“They have worked out all the costs themselves, and done the interviews and written the articles. It is a fantastic end product and we’re looking forward to the next one!”
