TALENTED RUGBY League youngster Jack Etchells has touched down at Huddersfield Giants after signing a professional contract with the Yorkshire club.

The 16-year-old from Moorside has agreed a package until 2017 at the Super League club.

Jack, who plays as a winger/centre, previously spent two years at Wigan Warriors on a scholarship.

But after being released by Warriors, it was they who recommended the England under-16 international to Giants along with another Oldham lad Brad Burgess who, like Jack, played for Oldham St Annes.

Jack is a former pupil at Delph Juniors and Bluecoat and his father Tony said: “Jack is delighted to sign for Giants after spending two great years at Wigan.

“Wigan must have strong links with Giants because they recommended both Jack and Brad after releasing them.”

Giants’ Head of Youth Development Andy Kelly added: “We know we have signed a good player who has come through a good system.

“Jack has come in from the Wigan scholarship and we moved quickly to secure his services. He was also involved in the England youth system and I believe we have a quality player.”
