ARTISTS of all ages and abilities are invited to show off their creative talents at ‘The Big Draw’ event on Saturday, October 11 at Woodend Studios.
The free session, which will run from 2pm to 4pm at Woodend Mil in Mossley, has been organised by Saddleworth artist Diana Terry, who has won award for previous events in Victoria baths, Manchester.
It will be outside Diana’s studio – 211, level 2, at Woodend Mill 2 – and is part of an international drawing campaign across 14 countries running until November 2.
People are also invited to stay behind after The Big Draw for a social evening of live music from 5pm to 9pm by the St John’s Brass Band and a free drink in the upstairs space.
The event coincides with Woodend’s Autumn Exhibition and Open Studio Weekend when there will be a vast array of creative and artistic delights on show at the mill on October 11-12 from 10am to 5pm.
Exhibits will include works from painters, printmakers, woodworkers, photographers, textile designers, sculptors, vintage, performing arts and more.
It’s an opportunity to view and buy original and affordable art from resident and invited artists.
Craft stalls, children’s activities and artist workshops will also be available to join in with throughout the weekend.
The Big Draw, launched in 2000, is fronted by renowned children’s writer Jacqueline Wilson and this year has a theme of ‘It’s Our World’ – encouraging everyone to celebrate their environment.
