NICOLA WHITE’S mother Gill believes that the Great Britain women’s hockey team is destined to win gold at the Olympic Games in Rio.
Gill, who is heading the family contingent, said: “It’s been amazing to be out here and reaching the final is what the girls wanted and trained so hard for four years to achieve.
“I think it is written all over for them to win the gold and this tournament.
“We have won seven out of seven and need to make it eight and go home with that gold medal.”
Gill, whose parents live in Delph, explained the emotions of watching her daughter in Olympic action.
She continued: “I am pretty calm until the last quarter. If we are the the lead, it’s fine and I am in control of myself.
“I have never experienced a final at the Olympics with my daughter in it so I don’t know how I will be on Friday.
“It will be a new experience, but I shall be shouting and cheering her on, and I am very, very proud of her.”
Gill is joined by her partner, Nicola’s boyfriend Edward and his parents.
