Saddleworth Pony Club district commissioner shortlisted for national award

PENNY RIDLEY, district commissioner of the Saddleworth & District branch of the Pony Club, has been shortlisted for a national award.

pcuklogoThe 68-year-old is one of five contenders for the Equoevents.co.uk volunteer of the year in the 2016 Horse & Hounds Awards.

Penny has been involved with the Saddleworth club and also Rochdale & District Riding Club for 25 years.

And to support her nomination, Zoe Reeves wrote: “Penny has worked her whole adult life to ensure that children and adults can enjoy our sport.

“She has given up her time to help riders to develop and have fun, both at Pony Club and riding club.”

The winners of the awards will be announced on November 3.

Other categories are lifetime achievement award, horse of the year, rider of the year, most memorable moment of the year, groom of the year, amateur rider of the year, British riding club of the year, farrier of the year, vet of the year and inspiration of the year.
