SADDLEWORTH Pool & Leisure centre is embarking on a £300,000 refurbishment to further raise its offering to the local community and members.
The new plans are due to kick-off this summer and will be completed in just 16 days, with the centre, in Uppermill, being fully opened on Wednesday, August 21.
There will be a stunning new look to its gym and fitness area, which will see smoked oak flooring, vibrant wall graphics, bespoke work-out areas and a much larger free weights area.
There is also significant investment being placed in the gym equipment being installed, all of which is state-of-the-art.
The kit will give members access to wi-fi-enabled on-board entertainment centres, which feature live television, music stations, in-built apps, games and wireless phone connections, allowing you to pair your device to the station to gain your vital signs and track your workout via your own smart phone.
But it doesn’t stop there as there will also be some new-to-market items such as the latest Climbmills, Skillrows, and an innovative Skillbike and Skierg.
Julie Alston, general manager at Saddleworth Pool & Leisure Centre, said: “Saddleworth is a fantastic facility and a very popular one for our members.
“Demand is always high and we’re continually striving to offer the latest innovations and best possible customer experience. This is why this particular investment and refurbishment is so important.
“The gym area has always been extremely popular and our members’ needs, along with our offering, has changed.
“This is the perfect time to align those requirements with state-of-the-art innovation that helps people to work-out in a fun and more engaging manner.
“We’re also extending our opening times as of Monday, September 2 and introducing a more varied class and pool timetable to better cater to our customers’ needs.
“While the refurbishments are underway, the gym and sauna will be closed for a short period of time.
“But all other facilities at the centre, such as our pool, fitness studio, 3G pitch and changing rooms, will remain open as usual.”
The gym, steam room and sauna will close at the end of the day on Sunday, August 4, with the steam room and sauna re-opening on Monday, August 19 and the gym on Wednesday, August 21.
Once the refurbishments are complete, there will be an open day where both members and non-members will be able to take part in fun challenges, activities and competitions to get accustomed to the new kit and classes available.
