LOCALS will be able to raise a glass, or two, as the Saddleworth Beer Festival returns later this year with a mouth-watering array of real ales and ciders.
There will be 15 real ales and two ciders to tickle the taste-buds at the event at Boarshurst Band Club in Greenfield on September 27-28.
Visitors will also be able to buy soft drinks, spirits and wine, or lagers from the bar and there will be hot food available on both days as well as live music.
The popular event is being organised once more by Peter Archer and Jonny Frankell after last year’s event was cancelled.
Peter explained: “We were unable to hold our event last year as we were let down at the last minute by the venue.
“We were very disappointed as we had big plans.
“However, we’ve moved to a new venue now and so this year the event returns even bigger than before.”
The line-up of real ales includes old favourites such as Jaipur from Thornbridge Brewery, Salopian Lemon Dream, True Grit from Millstone Brewery, and Mary Jane from Ilkley Brewery.
There are also a few new faces providing barrels, including Donkeystone in Greenfield, Three Fiends Brewhouse at Meltham, Northern Alchemy in Newcastle, Cold Bath at Harrogate, Magic Rock in Huddersfield and Bowland in Lancashire.
Ciders will come from the Real Cider Company in Bolton and all barrels will be set up on stillages which have been hand-made by Peter specifically for the festival.
Doors will be open on Friday night then Saturday afternoon and evening, with all ages welcome.
The entrance fee is £5 for Friday, £5 for Saturday or £8 for both days plus a free pint.
Proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion, towards helping to refurbish the cart for the Rushcart Festival, and other local charities.
