Saddleworth residents invited to put on walking boots for Breast Cancer Care

fusion_bccare_logoSADDLEWORTH RESIDENTS are invited to join a sea of pink walkers on Saturday, June 13 for the annual Pink Ribbonwalk around the historic market town of Bakewell.

Breast Cancer Care is urging locals to join the meander between the Wye and Derwent valleys, covering both the Chatsworth and Haddon estates.

This year, there is an option to walk a new shorter five-mile route, as well as the 10-mile and 20-mile options.

The shorter route will be open to families; children over the age of eight will be able to take part and the age limit for the 10 and 20-mile routes has been lowered to 14.

Participants will be asked to raise £100 in sponsorship each to help fund Breast Cancer Care’s specialist services which help people live with, through and beyond breast cancer. There is no minimum sponsorship for under 18s.

Lucy Johnston, UK Walks Events Manager for Breast Cancer Care said: “This year we need over 750 participants to join us to help smash our target of over £193,000.

“Every year nearly 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK so we really need Manchester residents to sign up to take part in 2015.”

It costs just £30 to register to take part and £15 for under 18s, and you will also receive free entry to the venue grounds (with a reduced entry fee for friends and family).

Every participant will receive an event pack with details, a pink ribbon to write a personal message on, a Pink Ribbonwalk T-shirt, medal, celebratory hot post-walk meal and a certificate.
