FUNDRAISER: Dave presents the money to the charity

Dave Runacre, from Delph, took on a sponsored challenge to drink no alcohol during a ‘Dry January’ and raised £500 for the Make A Wish Foundation.

The challenge is run annually by the charity, which grants wishes to children and young people with life-threatening medical conditions.

Dave explained: “A few of us tried ‘Dry January’ – and I was the only one who managed to finish! It was a different challenge to do for a change and we decided to do it for a charity.

“It was very hard, especially watching other people have a drink when I wanted one but couldn’t.

“I’m so pleased with how much I raised and that is all down to the generous public for supporting me and donating.”

Then, in March, the Delph Club decided to help Dave, who is one of their members, in his efforts and so organised a Race Night to raise more funds for the charity.

A further £350 was raised at the event, where Richard Longley of Starshine Disco gave his services for free to host the Race Night and disco.

A certificate was presented to Dave by a representative from the Make A Wish Foundation as Dave handed over the money raised.

Dave Runacre would like to thank everyone for supporting him, Richard and Delph Club for the Race Night.
