BEAUTIFUL PICTURES of Saddleworth taken by residents have been chosen to feature in a brand new 2014 calendar to raise funds for the Parish Council Chairman’s Charity.
Photographs of local scenes and villages throughout the seasons adorn each month of the calendar, while businesses have sponsored each month.
Snaps include winter over Denshaw, canal side in Uppermill, The Manns in Friezland, Dove Stone Reservoir and Whit Friday in Diggle.
Diane Sheldon, the Chairman’s Lady, said: “The calendar is selling well. We had a great response from local photographers in providing a variety of photographs showing Saddleworth at its best throughout the seasons and showing local events.
“And the sponsorship from local businesses has been great too.”
Calendars cost £3.50 each and proceeds go to the Saddleworth Parish Council Chairman’s Charity, which is supporting St Mary’s Hospital’s Placenta Research Clinic, Dr Kershaw’s and other local groups.
The calendar is on sale from Uppermill Post Office, The Little Shop, Saddleworth Museum, Ian Strachan’s Chemist in Uppermill, The Civic Hall, St Mary’s Charity Shop in Greenfield and Tesco Greenfield (customer services desk).
So far, around £10,000 has been raised for the chosen charities and more fundraising events planned for next year include A celebration of Hymns with Boarshurst Band and the local churches on Sunday, February 9 at Uppermill Civic Hall.
This will be followed by a Spring Wedding Fayre on Sunday, march 9 and If anyone would like to book a stall please contact the Civic Hall on 01457 876665.
