TWO SISTERS cannot be accused of stringing along music listeners – their talents have earned them places in a prestigious orchestra.
Ruby and Hannah Whitehead have been selected to play in the Nicola Benedetti Foundation ensemble.
That will see the cellist and double bassist join 200 other musicians as they are coached by some of the finest string musician mentors in the country.
Being chosen is seen as an opportunity for hugely talented young players to come together to play demanding orchestral music, an initiative supported and spearheaded by world famous British violin virtuoso Nicola Benedetti.

As well as conductor Leonard Elschenbroich, Ruby – a Year 10 pupil at Saddleworth School – will work with tutors Andrea Gajic, Clifton Harrison, Sarah Ayoub and Stewart Wilson.
Year Seven student Hannah will be mentored by Jon Trim, Laura Ayoub, Ruth Nelson, Rozzie Curlett and Jo Bradley.
This recognition is the latest in an increasingly long lien for the dynamic duo.
Ruby and Hannah will represent the Saddleworth school musical community and the North of England in National Youth music ensembles.
The older sister will join the National Youth Orchestra Inspire Orchestra for a three-day orchestral course and attend NYO sessions during the Easter holidays.
Hannah has been accepted onto the week-long National Schools Symphony Orchestra course this Easter.
She will also be included on the National Children’s Orchestra Projects programme for the second year running and regularly attends the Young Basses sessions at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.
All that is music to the ears of Saddleworth School’s leader of music Gareth Beckwith.
He said: “We couldn’t be prouder of Hannah and Ruby.
“Their dedication, hard work and commitment to their musical studies is absolutely exemplary and the music department of Saddleworth School could not be prouder of their outstanding musical achievements.
“Long may this wonderful music making continue for both girls – a huge congratulations to them both.”
